Note everyone of the artists who make their masterpieces at Artists' Open Studio were at the June 16th opening reception of Visions Revealed 2017 exhibit. But, here is a photo that you might enjoy. If you missed the occasion, there are more opportunities to see the display at the Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center Gallery. It is at Norwalk High School, 350 Shady Lane Drive, Norwalk, Ohio. Gallery hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00 - 12:00. To end it all with a bang, come to our closing reception on Friday, July 21 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm.

ROBERT WHITAKER has been one of our best tile makers. You will see his stamp on the back of many AOS coasters. Food has inspired much of Robert's ceramic art. His "Sunday Bowl" is inviting you to fill it with ice cream; enough for two! If you are wanting to make an outstanding culinary statement, consider Robert's colorful sculpture "With a Cherry on Top" for your kitchen or bar top. Robert's other featured piece is "Up-Standing", a spectacularly tall vase for your spectacular blooms,

FRED WAGNER is a very creative guy! He has been making his unique artistic statements in both AOS Painting and Ceramic studios for 13 years. Fred prefers to use markers colored pencils and pens on paper for his colorful geometric designs. However, inspired by a visitor’s purse, he substitutedfabric markers to design cloth for his “Fashion Model Bag”. In Ceramic studio Fred is even more adventurous. He enriches his pottery and clever sculptural forms with incised lines, glazes with vivid colors and gives his art imaginative titles. (Tokyo is a favorite subject.) Fred may be a quiet worker, but he has a fantastic sense of humor.

DEB SCHAFFER can hardly wait to get to Artists’ Open Studio to get the clay in her hands. Ceramic studio is both a therapeutic and a productive time for her. Deb balances her creative interests between functional pottery and fascinating forms for the wall or table like “Posy Plaque” or “Feather Teapot”. Be sure to visit her gallery on this website to see more and purchase Deb's work.

DON RISNER

As a true gentleman, Don will welcome you to AOS ceramic studio and show you around.  He has life stories to share that often are the inspiration for his diverse ceramic art designs. Don makes sturdy jugs, delicate bowls on pedestals and deeply textured plates with puddles of melted glass. Don treasures the honor of a 2nd place award in the 2012 VSA Accessible Expressions Exhibit.

JIM MOSES

It was Jim Moses in 2003, who began advocating for his art making needs. Soon others joined in and Artists’ Open Studio was created to fulfill the requests of folks with developmental disabilities who wanted to make fine art. Jim enjoys building his sculptural pottery with coil techniques and just can’t resist morphing those coils into snakes. Thanks for your inspirations Jim!

TRACEY LYNCH

Tracey Lynch enjoys the creative social atmosphere of Artists’ Open Studio. She makes very delicate drawings with colored pencil and uses watercolor and watercolor pencils during painting studio. But Tracey seems to be even fonder of working with clay. In Ceramic studio last year, she created a lovely birdhouse and several whimsical figures. With her cheerful personality Tracey offer lots of fun for all of us at AOS.
